John M. Padilla was awarded a Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1980.

He is a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association and participates in the Association's Juvenile Law and Family Law sections. He is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Bar Association's Family Law section.

Mr. Padilla is admitted to practice in all courts of the State of California, and in 1980 was also admitted to practice in Federal Court in the Northern District of California.

The Santa Clara County Bar Association awarded Mr. Padilla the prestigious Gretchen Burford-Dernetz Service Award in 1993, for his commitment, dedication and service to Juvenile and Family Law practice.

Santa Clara University awarded Mr. Padilla the coveted Ignatian Award in 2003 in recognition of distinguished service to others.

San Jose Magazine has listed Mr. Padilla as a top lawyer in Juvenile Law every year since the 1999-2000 edition.
